Description

Large, sumptuous blooms are produced all summer and into the autumn on surprisingly strong stems, making them excellent for cutting, lasting up to 10 days in a vase. Modern dahlia varieties can be left in the ground over winter if in well-drained soil, alternatively grow in large pots and bury into the border, the pot can then lifted and kept in a shed or garage until the following spring. Prefer well-drained soil in sun.

Collection comprises of-
1) Dahlia Dalaya Jadoo (Red White). Height 45cm (18in). Spread 30-40cm (12-16in)
2) Dahlia Dalaya Devi (Red). Height 45cm (18in). Spread 30-40cm (12-16in)
3) Dahlia Dalaya Shiva (Orange). Height 45cm (18in). Spread 30-40cm (12-16in)

Cultural Notes

  • Soil - Well drained, moderately fertile.
  • Position - Sun or part shade
  • Cutting - Yes
  • Flowering - June to November
  • Additional Information - Dahlias benefit from a high nitrogen liquid fertilizer weekly in early summer and a high potash fertilizer weekly in mid summer to early autumn. Dead head as flowers fade to prolong flowering. When foliage is blackened by the frosts the tubers can be lifted, kept dry and frost free. Dahlias can be left in the ground if free draining soil. They need to be mulched and cover with plastic to keep dry. Plant these out after the frosts. Tuberous tender perennial.
