Cultural Notes

  • Soil - Prefers humus-rich, ericaceous, moist but well-drained.
  • Position - Dappled or part shade
  • Cutting - Yes
  • Flowering - Spring. (Camellia Sasanquas flower October- February)
  • Additional Information - Mulch with leaf mould or shredded bark. Dislikes cold, drying winds and early morning sun. Once established the plant accepts harsh pruning after flowering. Apply a balanced liquid fertiliser in the spring and summer but do not overfeed. Water established plants in dry weather to stop the buds from dropping. Protect from extended heavy freezes. Mulch to keep roots cool. Fully hardy perennial.
